Snow day❄️

Well hello IG long time since I’ve posted but that’s changing as I joined a P52 project for the new year.

I haven’t really picked up my camera in almost two years 😔 Covid hit and my photography business took a back seat as I transitioned into virtual learning for my girls while also having a toddler at my heels. I had to wear many many more hats than normal for a mom. The days seem to run together and we barely left our house most days these past two years except a grocery shopping trip or to pick up take out.

Many of us are experiencing COVID fatigue and feeling burnt out from parenting during a pandemic.

And let me validate those feelings: This burnout is real.

Every day, week, and month we are having to pivot, shift, and adjust. And yes, this is teaching us new skills in learning to be flexible, but after doing this for two years, it’s getting old! Am I right?!

With every new routine, we have to figure out, one of the hardest parts is not knowing how long that routine will last. If we could say, “I only have to do this until this date,” we could find ways to cope help us through this very specific time, and it would give us hope and encouragement that we only have a specified amount of time we have to continue with the stress and overwhelm.

Unfortunately, that’s not the world we currently exist in. Shutdown orders continue to shift and change as the risk of the pandemic goes up and down, and the uncertainty of routine will continue until the virus is greatly under control.

I promised myself, for myself and my kids I would get out of this trapped feeling this year and try to find positives everyday. I will still have my off days and running on fumes and anxiety’s are high, I’ll be touched out and just want to lay around all day and that’s totally ok. I need this P52 to get my mojo back and get back to creating and capturing our life while my kids are still young and also find myself again.

Ch-ch-ch-changes!! It’s the pink for me 😉

After literally YEARS of wanting to cut my hair short and shave one side and also dye my hair some crazy wild color, I finally took the plunge yesterday spur of the moment and I'm so happy I did. Life is too short not to have fun, take risks, and look the way we want to.

I have been down many roads in my life and everything that should have killed me, broken me, and bruised me didn’t and I was able to walk away a survivor! I always played it safe and knew what I wanted in my life while also being too afraid to have some fun with my hair, my clothes, always feeling uncomfortable when people stared at me. But through lots of therapy, self love, and self care I’m learning it’s ok to make changes that make me feel good about myself.

Self love will heal you, empower you, restore you, and open up new worlds within you and all around you. Self love is the key to your mental, spiritual, and emotional health.

So, Start being uncomfortable, it’s ok! I used to (and still do) struggle with getting outside of my comfort zone. You couldn’t catch me branching out and trying new things or meeting new people. But now I can honestly say I’ve grown past some of those insecurities and have learned it’s ok because what is the absolute worst that can happen? And so I made two big changes I’ve always wanted to do.

I have tried so many new things and put myself out there more the last year or so than I ever have and I’ve gained SO much confidence because of that. Sure, it’s scary at first but think of what you gain by growing and expanding. Why stay complacent? Complacency is boring. I'd rather be expanding, growing, learning and working on myself.

I feel more free, and grown into who I’m supposed to be more than ever. I’m excited about new adventures, as terrifying as they may be. And I have my children watching me and I hope I’m showing them it’s ok to stand out and be different and express who you are in whatever ways you want to.

Since Covid happened I’ve been pretty quiet this way, having two kids doing virtual learning and chasing my two year old around, this mama has been busy and stuck home all the time. I think I picked up my camera for the first time in months the other day and I felt bad about it but it also felt really good to shoot again, even if it is of my own kids 🤣.
I think part of it has to do with being home all the time with three kids and helping two of them do virtual learning just completely drains me and I have no energy or motivation to do much. And winter months don’t help either! But we got some good news...

Schools are finally going hybrid here and only one of my kids will be going back 2 days a week. So I’m still not shooting like I would love to be doing. It’s all good though and I know I’ll be back on my game once things get back to some kind of normalcy which I pray is close. Until then I’m just over here taking care of myself and my family and that’s all that matters. Thinking of you all 😊.

Hard to believe that this time last year I was attending my first styled shoot with @leahstankusphotography of @wanderlust.shootouts( who I highly recommend you join one of her shootouts they are INCREDIBLE ☺️) and let me tell you what, that day was the day I jumped out of my comfort zone and really took a leap of faith in myself as a photographer and boy did it pay off! Since then I gained more experience, education, and love for this passion of mine. I got a mentorship with @bellebrookephotography who is such an amazing photographer and creator, I adore her and her work! I also got published five times over the summer 🥰 which I’m super proud of myself and all the hard work I’ve put in. Covid may have disrupted this year but I am making a promise to myself to continue to grow and thrive in my business the second we get back to our lives and no more pandemic!

So if your a photographer reading this, take the plunge and get out of your head and comfort zone and put yourself out there.... you never know where it will take you and it could be a pretty amazing reward in the end!

Hard to believe that this time last year I was attending my first styled shoot with @leahstankusphotography of @wanderlust.shootouts( who I highly recommend you join one of her shootouts they are INCREDIBLE ☺️) and let me tell you what, that day was the day I jumped out of my comfort zone and really took a leap of faith in myself as a photographer and boy did it pay off! Since then I gained more experience, education, and love for this passion of mine. I got a mentorship with @bellebrookephotography who is such an amazing photographer and creator, I adore her and her work! I also got published five times over the summer 🥰 which I’m super proud of myself and all the hard work I’ve put in. Covid may have disrupted this year but I am making a promise to myself to continue to grow and thrive in my business the second we get back to our lives and no more pandemic!

So if your a photographer reading this, take the plunge and get out of your head and comfort zone and put yourself out there.... you never know where it will take you and it could be a pretty amazing reward in the end!

Hey there, hope everyone’s doing well and just wanted to pop on real quick and say hello and I miss you all so much! It’s been rough every since Covid happened and doing virtual learning with 2 kids while also chasing my 2 1/2 year old around. Some days go by so fast and others so slow but we are making the best of it all. December brings so much joy in our house and we get to continue family traditions as well as start new ones which I love. • Married for almost 6 years, in business going on 4 years, 3 kids, 1 dog, and two cats! So it’s a zoo in our home but we wouldn’t have it any other way! ⠀

• On most days I have music on and move to my own beat 😜

• Due to school being virtual and trying to help my preschooler and kindergartener adjust to the new norm has this mama going crazy being cooped up in my house all day and not shooting as much as I would like to but we are managing.

Looking forward to when all of this passes so I can plan some meet ups with some local talented photographers.

And not just families that I meet once, but families that I see again and again over the years that feel more like friends than clients.
